Clinical Education and Training

Southwest Med Evac is committed to clinical excellence. To meet these high clinical expectations and standards, Southwest Med Evac designed and implemented an industry-leading orientation program.

All applicants must possess a minimum of three years of relevant experience and pass a series of written and practical tests. Once employed, all clinical staff participate in and complete a 3-week didactic and skills program specifically tailored to meet the demands of the air medical environment and the needs of critical patients. Upon completion of the initial training, each clinician is paired with an experienced clinician to assure a smooth transition into the flight environment.

The Southwest Med Evac Clinical Education and Training Department also oversees continuing ongoing education. All clinicians are required to demonstrate skills proficiency on a quarterly basis as well as maintain required certifications and licensures.

Southwest Med Evac recognizes that positive clinical outcomes are the result of a team effort. That team includes first responders, nurses, allied health providers, physicians as well as air medical providers. Southwest Med Evac is committed to assisting all these entities in meeting their educational needs and goals. The Clinical Education and Training Department makes educational experiences available to allied agencies and personnel on a frequent basis so that all can achieve a higher level of service.
