About UsSouthwest Med Evac, an Omniflight company, is the largest air medical services provider in West Texas and Southern New Mexico. The company offers both rotor- and fixed-wing services to accommodate critical care, trauma and medical paients from neonate to adult and mission profiles including mass casualty incidents and disaster relief. Southwest Med Evac, founded in Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1994, is dedicated to offering the various communities it serves a comprehensive and integrated air medical network that ensures all persons throughout Southern New Mexico and West Texas have rapid access to air medical transportation, if needed. Today, Southwest Med Evac operates 11 strategically located air medical bases across this geographic area. On board every Southwest Med Evac aircraft is a professional, highly trained crew, which consists of pilots, flight nurses and flight paramedics. In addition to the skilled crew is a full complement of state-of-the-art equipment and medications that transforms the aircraft into a virtual flying intensive care unit. Pilots are assisted by the latest in aviation technology and safety innovations such as night vision goggles, radar altimeters and satellite communications systems. All medical care provided by Southwest Med Evac is delivered under the direction and auspices of Board Certified Emergency Medical Physicians that are licensed in New Mexico and Texas. These medical directors participate in the training of all staff as well as in the overall quality assurance process. This oversight, combined with the distinctive skill sets the flight team brings to the missions, allow for physician-level care to be delivered to patients as needed, en route. Southwest Med Evac is approved to perform a range of advanced skills which includes but is not limited to chest tubes, rapid sequence induction intubation and use of rapid infusion catheters. Southwest Med Evac is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS), is a governing body focused on improving the quality of patient care and safety of the transport environment for those entities providing rotor wing, fixed wing and ground transport systems and services. It is also licensed by the State of New Mexico to serve as a Specialty Care Provider as well as by the State of Texas to operate as a Mobile Intensive Care Unit. |
