NATIVE AIR TO SPONSOR FOOD DRIVE ACROSS ITS 15 ARIZONA BASESMESA, Ariz. … February 14, 2008 … Native Air, which provides air medical services throughout Arizona, announced today that its 16 air medical bases across the state would sponsor a food drive to benefit Phoenix-based St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. The statewide food drive will held from February 1st through February 28th at Native Air’s 16 air medical bases throughout Arizona as well as at its corporate office in Mesa. During this time, collection locations will be strategically placed across Native Air’s bases, which include 13 helicopter and three airplane locations. These bases are located in Mesa, Chandler, Casa Grande, Buckeye, Lake Havasu, Prescott, Prescott Valley, Show Low, Payson, Globe, Kearny and Deer Valley. About 150 are employed with the company between these locations and the corporate office. “At Native Air, community involvement has always been an integral part of our local business and operations. Each and every day, our role in the provision of air medical services requires us to work closely with many local public service professionals, community groups and emergency medical employees. The food drive to benefit St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance is an important outreach effort for us, and helps underscore the importance of this organization’s dedication to stamping out hunger,” noted Lee McCammon, vice president-Western region for Omniflight, which owns Native Air, and who heads its Native Air division. “Native Air chose to align with St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance based on its widespread coverage throughout Arizona. The Food Bank’s services reach 13 of the state’s 15 counties and delivers food to the hungry through its partnerships with more than 500 agencies at 675 different sites in the state. This ensures that all the communities that Native Air serves will benefit from the generosity of our employees. We hope to collect more than 1,200 pounds of food from Native Air employees for St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, whose tireless efforts to eliminate hunger are so important to the citizens of our community. We appreciate all they do, and this our way of recognizing the importance of their mission,” McCammon concluded. Terry Shannon, President and CEO of St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, added: “We appreciate the dedication and commitment demonstrated by Native Air and its employees. Since 1967, the Food Bank’s mission has been to eliminate hunger through gathering and distribution efforts and also to encourage self-sufficiency through advocacy and education. It is donors like Native Air that allow us to further our mission to work toward bettering the communities and people we serve. “ St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, the world’s first food bank, is a non-sectarian, nonprofit organization that alleviates hunger by efficiently gathering and distributing food to 675 sites that serve the hungry. Serving 13 of Arizona’s 15 counties, the organization is committed to volunteerism, building community relationships, and improving the quality of life for Arizonans in need. During fiscal year 2006-2007, the Food Bank distributed 51.5 million pounds of food to families and individuals, provided enough food for 200,000 meals every day, and garnered more than 230,000 volunteer service hours.
