This British airline group was formed in 1968 and it began operations in the early 1970s, when it had only a couple of aircraft in its fleet. Today, the company has a very large fleet and carries half a million passengers every year.

At present, Monarch Airlines is a premier air transportation choice in the UK. The airline has thirty-four aircraft in its fleet and its central base is located at Gatwick airport. This airline also offers service out of four other United Kingdom bases.
Passengers may choose from a wide assortment of destinations, including the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands and a host of exciting ski destinations. Prices for flights will vary – three classes of fares are available and these are Flight Only, Essentials (which includes a pre-booked seat and other perks) and Extras, which offers a seat with more legroom, as well as the full complement of perks.
This airline doesn’t get the best reviews at TrustPilot.com. Currently, it receives an overall rating of 3.3 out of 10 stars, which is pretty low. This rating is based on 43 customer reviews. There were quite a few one star reviews from passengers, some of whom were actually irate with the airline.
Reasons for anger and frustration which resulted in the lowest possible rating included the airline cancelling a flight at the last minute and offering no alternative. The person who complained about this had to pay cancellation fees and then re-book their trip via another airline. Others remarked on a sense of chaos during the boarding phase of their flights – they found that the boarding process was disorganized and could easily have run more smoothly if only there was proper supervision from flight attendants.
There were a few five-star reviews. These happy customers seemed to enjoy all aspects of their Monarch Airlines flights.
However, the preponderance of reviews was rather bad. There was a lot of criticism and many people definitely didn’t enjoy flying with this airline. A lot said they would never fly with Monarch again.
Beyond the disorganization and having to pay for basics, such as online check-in, people seemed most irritated by the lack of responsiveness from service representatives. They felt they were often treated rudely.
Unlike most airlines, this one doesn’t seem to offer a frequent flyer program or other type of customer loyalty program. This is perhaps because Monarch is smaller than other airlines based in Britain, such as British Airways and Virgin Atlantic. However, those who do want to earn air miles for flying with Monarch need to know that this just isn’t an option.
The Monarch Group does offer extra programs to customers, such as access to travel deals and prepaid travel money cards. In addition, it provides easy access to the latest deals on flights and holiday packages via its official website. It’s also possible to arrange car rental and insurance via this website. Flights and related travel services may be researched and booked online. Registration at the website will be quick and simple.
