Pangburn is a seasoned aviation professional, having worked within the industry for the past 14 years. For 29 years, Pangburn served in various branches of the United States military including the Coast Guard, Coast Guard Reserve/Army Reserve (pilot) and the Army National Guard in both Delaware and Oklahoma. In this new capacity, Pangburn will be responsible for the training of new pilots as well as the recurring instruction and education for all current Omniflight pilots. He will also oversee the company’s compliance in meeting Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements and standards pertaining to its pilots and check airmen as they perform their day-to-day duties. In addition, he regularly conducts Air Medical Resource Management safety seminars around the country for Omniflight. Pangburn was promoted from check airman, a position he held for five years. He originally joined Omniflight in 1994 and spent eight years as a line pilot. In 2003, he began working in the training department as a check airman, focusing on training pilots. During his career, Pangburn developed a specialty in training both ab initio and rated pilots. Between 2002 and 2003, he served as an emergency medical service (EMS) pilot for GoldStar Angel Flight, an EMS provider in Port Arthur, Tex. He also served as a vice president/chief flight instructor and chief pilot at Titan Helicopter Services, in Millville, NJ. Pangburn began his extensive career as a civilian pilot for Titan Detective Services, a large detective agency based in NJ. Clark Kurschner, Omniflight’s director of operations, commented on Pangburn’s appointment: “Eric brings a wealth of flying and teaching experience to Omniflight. Before he joined, he operated a Part 141 flight school - Titian Helicopter Academy on the east coast – where he garnered significant expertise that served him well as he moved up the EMS pilot ranks. During his tenure with Omniflight, he served as a line pilot in Abilene, Tex., followed by company instructor and later, check airman. Eric’s aviation experience and training expertise, coupled with a keen knowledge of this company’s operations, make him an excellent fit for the chief pilot position. We are excited about the leadership capabilities and skills he will bring to our pilots, training programs and processes.” Pangburn said of his promotion: “I plan to work closely with all our pilots and check airman staff to ensure the safe operations of each of our aircraft, every time we perform a service for the many communities we serve. My goal is to further streamline our training processes, enhance efficiencies, operate cost effectively and create an environment that fosters open communication and responsiveness among our staff and management as well as with the FAA. I look forward to the contributions I will make in my new role.” Pangburn, 55, resides in Denton, Tex., and has five children. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Wilmington College in Wilmington, Del. and is presently enrolled at Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss. working toward earning a Master’s degree in commercial aviation. Pangburn holds Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) and Certified Flight Instructor with Instrument Instructor endorsement (CFII) certificates. He also conducts safety seminars around the country, based on his knowledge, expertise and passion for public speaking and safe air medical operations.
