OMNIFLIGHT HELICOPTERS, INC. FLIGHT PARAMEDIC WINS 12th ANNUAL CAROLINA COMPETITIONDECEMBER 14, 2007 Charleston, S.C. Paramedic Wins Prestigious Regional Award for Skills and Abilities in Local Rigorous Simulation Competition ADDISON, Tex. … December 14, 2007 … Omniflight Helicopters, Inc., a leading national provider of air medical services, announced today that Jason Hammond, a flight paramedic for the company’s Charleston, S.C. location, which operates as Meducare Air, and a paramedic with Charleston County E.M.S. (also in Charleston), a local emergency medical services agency, is the first place winner of the 12th annual Carolina Competition. Hammond represented Charleston County E.M.S. (S.C.) in the competition, along with Todd McGeorge. The Carolina Competition is a regional program designed to demonstrate the skill and knowledge required to master the extremely rigorous simulations presented to participants during the competition. The competition calls for teams of two paramedics to compete over the course of two days in simulated technical scenarios, designed to assess their abilities when reacting to emergency situations and evaluate their treatments of the various injuries that are presented to them in these circumstances. Thirteen teams (of two) representing different EMS agencies across both North and South Carolina participated in this year’s competition, which was held in Dunn, N.C. in October 2007 and hosted by Dunn Rescue Squad, a local EMS agency based there. “We are very pleased that Jason is part of our Omniflight team and are honored that each and every day, our clients and patients, benefit from his skills and knowledge. This competition reinforces the already high level of confidence we hold regarding Jason’s dedication to and capabilities within the air medical services and EMS industries. All of us at Omniflight extend our sincerest congratulations to Jason on the exemplary efforts he put forth during the competition and those he exhibits everyday on the job at Omniflight,” said Henry O. Ward, regional manager of clinical services at Omniflight. Dr. Kevin Jasinski, of McColl, S.C., a practicing dentist with more than 25 years of EMS experience, is the founder and chairman of the Carolina Competition. He commented on Hammond’s win, stating: “I am extremely proud of how Jason and his partner performed. These scenarios are constructed to test every skill known. The objective of the competition is to overwhelm the paramedic so that we can closely observe how they operate under considerable pressure and stress. Only the best succeed. We take great pride in the quality of this competition, which is a challenging, thought-provoking and fair experience. Even spectators that join us from the general public are amazed and gain a keen understanding of precisely what is involved in the field of pre-hospital emergency medicine after observing the Carolina Competition.” The Carolina Competition has grown quickly over the years due to its challenging criteria. It has become recognized as the yardstick by which all other E.M.S. competitions are measured, as evidenced by the numerous team entries received each year representing both Carolinas. Hammond lives in Charleston, S.C., and has been employed with Omniflight for about three years. Addison, Tex.-based Omniflight Helicopters, Inc. is a leading provider of air medical services throughout the U.S. The company owns 100 aircraft nationally, and operates from 72 bases in 16 states, with a strong presence across the Southwest, Midwest, and Southeast regions.
