Omniflight's operational control center is staffed 24/7 with aviation experts staff  that closely monitor weather, flights plans and patterns, prior to any mission launch.

Operational Control Center (OCC)

In 2006, Omniflight established its own operational control center (OCC), which is based at the company’s headquarters in Addison, Texas and features the latest in pertinent technology and equipment. Here, aviation experts - which include highly qualified dispatchers and former commercial air traffic controllers - staff the center 24/7 and monitor weather, flights plans and patterns and air worthiness conditions, etc. Before any launch, the OCC must approve the flight.

From this location, the company issues flight releases for all designated flights and pilots authorized to exercise operational control by Omniflight. The OCC has access to all pertinent information for each flight. After review of this information and when satisfied that all requirements for the flight are met, an operational control center coordinator issues a flight release number to the pilot-in-command (PIC).

This helps to determine whether or not a flight should go since such determination must be decided on with input from two separate individuals at any given time. This process adds another level of oversight, which underscores Omniflight’s commitment to safety and serves as a checks and balances system.

The OCC also is equipped with Nextel radios/cell phones and laptop computers with back-up power, with the ability to digitally record all applicable information provided to initiate, conduct and terminate a flight or a series of flights manually.
